Let's look at a few Scriptures about being asleep. (Matthew 26:36-46.) "Then Jesus went with His disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with Him, and He began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then He said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.” Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.” Then He returned to His disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with Me for one hour?” He asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may Your will be done.” When He came back, He again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. So He left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. Then He returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. Rise! Let us go! Here comes My betrayer!” We could make a parallel with today in this passage. Jesus goes away. He comes back at the end of the age. His believers are asleep in their various institutions. Be warned that as He comes back there is trouble coming. And, in a further passage, the disciples are scattered. We get so caught up in Second Coming and rapture - we don't know the day or the hour and all that. We miss completely that there is a physical wilderness called Petra which we run away too for 3 1/2 years during the Great Tribulation. Rising up on the wings of Eagles. Remember that?
Second passage: (Matthew 25:1-13.) “At that time the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. “Later the others also came. ‘LORD, LORD,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour." It's similar to the above passage. We are waiting for His return. We've become drowsy and sleepy in what we are doing. The wise ones though have been studying the Scriptures so they are ready. The oil and the lamps represent this. They also have enough money to fly off or other to the Bridegroom's city Jerusalem to be in place for Him. If you don't go, aren't ready, etc. when you do the door will be shut. There's only a very short window to flee to Petra or so it appears.
Also with Sodom. (Genesis 19:12-14.) "The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the LORD against its people is so great that He has sent us to destroy it.”
So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking." Again, not awake to the destruction coming soon.
There's other passages. If sure some at the people at Noah's time would have wanted to get in the Ark but the door was shut seven days before. (Genesis 7:1 & 10.) It's slightly different in Moses' day. No sleeping then but while destruction reigned in Egypt the Israelites were escaping into the wilderness.
We are looking also for other clues or warnings as to what is happening. Did you hear about a drone sent to spy out Petra and found another building that hadn't been known before "hiding" in plain sight. They know we are going there. They are also trying to scare by saying ISIS has moved into Jordan. ADONAI will find a way for us to get there.
There was also the story of an alligator which killed a two year old child. In the days of Mary and Joseph, Herod sent out a decree to kill all the children two years old and under. Did Mary & Joseph stay put? No, with a word from the Angel of the LORD they ran away to Egypt.
So we see the pattern here. It's a particular way in which things (in situations & subjects) are done. (2 John 1:1-6.) "From: The Elder. To: The chosen lady and her children, whom I love in Truth—and not only I but also all who have come to know the Truth— because of the Truth which remains united with us and will be with us forever: Grace, Mercy and Shalom will be with us from God the Father and from Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of the Father, in Truth and Love. I was very happy when I found some of your children living in Truth, just as the Father commanded us. And now, dear lady, I am requesting that we love one another—not as if this were a new command I am writing you, for it is the one which we have had from the beginning. Moreover, love is this: that we should live according to His commands. This is the command, as you people have heard from the beginning; live by it!" Amen. Trust in Love and Truth, in Yehweh, ADONAI and Ruach HaKodesh this will be alright. The Grace, Mercy and Shalom will guide us to follow the pattern. It will be alright in the relationship with Him. Keep your thoughts pure. Listen to His Voice.
