This is the last chapter from the apocryphal book of Enoch. Was it once considered part of the Biblical canon? Many people have come down the ages both Godly and ungodly who have had an interest in these things setting up writings as they see fit. All of these affect us in some way, here, now, in the last days. Whatever the answer or answers are, these books which are not considered part of the Biblical canon to most at this time but thanks to the Internet are gaining prominence again - being openly discussed and reasoned about. Which makes this chapter very interesting indeed because it speaks about the last days.
I would want to be one of those "who, since they came into being, longed not after earthly food, but regarded everything as a passing breath, and lived accordingly, and the LORD tried them much, and their spirits were found pure so that they should bless His Name." From a long time ago in my walk of the Holy Way (the Covenant YESHUA has with those who love Him) I have been given over to search for Him. This has involved asking questions, listening for His voice, praying and interceding (for this is what He wants me to do) and preferring other people - this has changed as I go along - amongst other things.
Let's search out the mysteries of Christ together. (Proverbs 25:2.) "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a thing." The thing being concealed is a sin. God receives Glory for not showing it. Kings, however, receive it for bringing it to light. (1 Kings 19:16-17 says:) "Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu." The secret things of Deuteronomy 29:29 ("The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law") are which He hasn't revealed. What He has revealed, however, we should remember. I am not very good, things I've been told I forget, I'm uninterested to remember, I'm shallow and I'm lazy. Even so, one day in Heaven, after my whole life flashes before me in a second and I'm embarrassed by all the sin I committed the good however small will be trumpeted and lifted up for all to see because it was good and put things in their correct order.
I'd also want to be one of those it talks about: "for some of them are written and inscribed above in the Heaven, in order that the angels may read them and know that which shall befall the sinners, and the spirits of the humble, and of those who have afflicted their bodies, and been recompensed by God." What exactly it means I'm not sure. I've no pretensions to do anything which will be noted like Amy Carmichael who found her calling to India. Or to be a teacher, preacher or pastor - He hasn't called me to do this. Even so, I will do a bit of it through this blog I write and maybe in other ways in the future because it's a good thing to do. All I want to do is what He shows me to do. Even as I learn more and more from the Holy Spirit the funny thing about it is (that's how it seems) I seem like I'm channelled or hedged in. I have to do what I'm showed.
Revelation 2:7.
He who is able to hear, let him listen to and give heed to what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant to eat [of the fruit] of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.
Revelation 2:11.
He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). He who overcomes (is victorious) shall in no way be injured by the second death.
Revelation 2:17.
He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (conquers), I will give to eat of the manna that is hidden, and I will give him a white stone with a new name engraved on the stone, which no one knows or understands except he who receives it.
Revelation 2:25-29.
Only hold fast to what you have until I come. And he who overcomes (is victorious) and who obeys My commands to the [very] end [doing the works that please Me], I will give him authority and power over the nations; And he shall rule them with a sceptre (rod) of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, and [his power over them shall be] like that which I Myself have received from My Father; And I will give him the Morning Star. He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
Revelation 3:5-6.
Thus shall he who conquers (is victorious) be clad in white garments, and I will not erase or blot out his name from the Book of Life; I will acknowledge him [as Mine] and I will confess his name openly before My Father and before His angels. He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
Revelation 3:12-13.
He who overcomes (is victorious), I will make him a pillar in the Sanctuary of My God; he shall never be put out of it or go out of it, and I will write on him the Name of My God and the Name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which descends from My God out of Heaven, and My own new Name. He who can hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
Revelation 3:21-22.
He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne. He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
Revelation 12:11.
"And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]."
Amen.
