Which one do you naturally gravitate too from the descriptions? I appear to be the INFJ personality which is the world’s rarest with less than 1-2% of the world’s population. INFJ has been capitalised so it stands out as the one I am interested in.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator came from the psychological types described by C. G. Jung. His viewpoint was that seemingly random variation in behaviour was actually quite orderly and consistent based on different ways individuals prefer using perception and judgment.
Perception involves ways of being aware of things, people, happenings, etc. Judgment is the way of coming to conclusions about what has been perceived. If people differ in what they perceive and how to reach conclusions, then they will differ in their interests, reactions, values, motivations, and skills.
As stated, they are very rare. They have an inbuilt sense of idealism and morality with their accompanying judging trait but capable of taking concrete steps to realise goals and make lasting impact. Helping others seems to be their purpose in life though their real passion is to reach the heart of the issue.
They tend to be soft-spoken but with strong opinions fighting tirelessly for an idea believed in. Decisive and strong-willed. Rarely use their energy for personal gain, however. Creativity, imagination, conviction and sensitivity are used not to advantage but to create balance.
All of these, however, are untrue to a certain extent because the Supreme All directs our path and is behind it all. Everyone must think whether they walk in creative willingness to bring advantage to others or in destructive selfishness.
They make connections with others through warm, sensitive language speaking in human terms rather than logic or fact. Friends and colleagues will grow to think of them as extrovert but all should realise INFJs need time to themselves to recharge and (suddenly) withdraw. Give them space for a few days.
They must learn to look after themselves. Their passion is capable of carrying past breaking point leading to being exhausted, unhealthy and stressed. Remember this when they’re up against conflict and criticism. Their sensitivity forces them to evade seemingly personal attacks though they fight back in highly irrational, unhelpful ways. World is a place full of inequity which they are suited to create a movement to right no matter how big or small. Take care of themselves also while taking care of the world.
So basically they are:
Introverted - energised by quiet time alone.
Intuitive - see patterns and possibilities.
Feelings - prioritise people and emotions.
Judging - prefer structure and order.
I did the TypeFinder® Personality Test. I’m an INFJ which, of course, I already knew but this confirmed it. Introversion was 72% compared to 28% Extroversion. Next, Sensing 29% v Intuition 71%. Thinking 25% v Feeling 75%. The last one was: Perceiving 65% v Judging 35%. This was the one I misjudged thinking I was a Judging type. However, when I read the description: ‘as a Perceiver, you like to keep things casual and open-ended. You dislike being tied down, preferring instead to be free to go with the flow and the impulses of the moment. Your tend to avoid rigid structures and organisational systems, and shy away from scheduling your time in advance. Your like to be free to make last-minute changes as new ideas arise’ my understanding came round to it. Here’s the website to take the test if your interested. (https://www.truity.com/ .)Will need to sign up with user and password but well worth it.
Are you an INFJ? Is this just another way of looking at the empath information? My suggestion is empaths can be found in most of the introverted groups and maybe also in some of the extroverted ones. What do you think? Tell me in the comments.
Lastly, here’s the video which introduced me to the INFJ personality type. Enjoy.
